Features

CANsignal Suite in the app

Open a screen to see what that CAN tool does in the app.

Feature 01

Start page

Open a project, connect, import an EDS, or jump to the simulator, Object Dictionary, and documentation.

This is the first screen after the program opens. From here you open or create a project, connect to a bus, import an EDS or DCF file, and open the simulator, Object Dictionary, or the documentation. It is not a monitoring screen.

Feature 02

Connect

Choose Virtual bus for a lab with no hardware, or a Kvaser, PEAK, or VSCOM adapter, then pick the bitrate and connect.

Virtual bus needs no adapter and is the right choice for a desk test. For a real bus, pick Kvaser, PEAK, or VSCOM, choose the channel and the bitrate, then press Connect. The same dialog is used for every edition.

Feature 03

Object Dictionary

Read the registers from the imported EDS. Favorites shows only the ones you starred. Search, export, and import EDS are on this screen.

After an EDS is imported, this screen lists the objects in that file. Search finds an index or a name. The star marks a favorite, and Favorites hides everything else. Read All asks a connected node for the current values. Import EDS and export stay on this screen.

Feature 04

Signal generators

Add signal generators, meters, dials, numerics, switches, lamps, and text boxes on a simulated node. Trial allows 7 instruments, Light 15, and Professional has no limit. Text boxes are unlimited and are not counted.

This picture is the Visual tab of a simulated node, not Live Graphs. Press SigGen to add a generator, then Meter, Dial, Numeric, Switch, Lamp, or Textbox for the instruments. Trial allows 7 instruments and Light allows 15. Professional has no instrument limit. Text boxes are unlimited on every edition and are not counted. Stop SigGens stops the generators. Auto-add EDS can place instruments from the imported file.

Feature 05

Live Graphs

Plot live signals, freeze the picture, and export CSV, PDF, or PNG. This is the fast plot. Dashboard Builder is a separate screen.

This is the chart screen. It is not the Visual tab and it is not Dashboard Builder. Pick the signals, set the time window, and the lines update while the bus is running. Freeze holds the picture. Clear data wipes the plot. Export CSV, PDF, or PNG saves what is on the chart.

Feature 06

Trace

Start, stop, and pause the frame capture. Filter by CAN ID or node, and read the raw frame and decoded details under the table.

Press Start to capture frames and Stop or Pause when you have enough. Filter by CAN ID or node, and search inside the table. The columns include time, ID, node, details, and a Process Data column for values decoded on that row. That column is not the Process Data window. The panels under the table show the raw frame and the decoded fields for the selected row.

Feature 07

SDO Client

Read or write one object on a connected node. Pick the node, index, and sub-index, then see the value and the transfer history.

Use this when you need one object, not the whole dictionary. Choose the node, type the index and sub-index, then Read or Write. The value and the transfer history stay on the screen so you can see what was sent.

Feature 08

PDO Mapping

Choose a TPDO or RPDO, add objects, and watch the bit budget. Export or write the mapping when a node is connected.

Select a TPDO or an RPDO, add the objects that belong in it, and watch the bit budget so the mapping still fits in the frame. Export DCF saves the mapping to a file. Writing the mapping to a node needs a live connection.

Feature 09

PDO Monitor

Watch live PDO values for the selected node and EDS. A warning means that mapping should be checked.

This screen shows the PDO configuration and the live decoded values for the node and EDS you selected. A warning means that mapping should be checked. The program does not fill in values that were not received.

Feature 10

Network Explorer

Scan the bus and see each node that answers: vendor, product, heartbeat, and whether an EDS matches.

Scan the bus and each node that answers is listed with its vendor, product, heartbeat, and whether an EDS in the project matches. Manual Scan limits the node-ID range. A row with no EDS match is a real result, not a guessed device name.

Feature 11

Heartbeat Monitor

See which nodes are online, the last heartbeat, missed counts, and the event history. The times come from real frames.

Nodes that send a heartbeat appear here with the last heartbeat time, the average interval, missed counts, and how long they have been online or offline. The event history is built from those frames. Intervals are measured, not estimated.

Feature 12

Bus Utilization

See how full the bus is, and how much of the traffic is PDO, SDO, or heartbeat.

The load percentage is calculated from the frames on the bus and the bitrate. The breakdown shows how much of that traffic is PDO, SDO, EMCY, or heartbeat, plus a node ranking. This is the traffic screen, not the health-findings screen.

Feature 13

Network Diagnostics

Read node, bus, PDO, and SDO health in one place. Each finding names the node and a next step, such as importing a matching EDS.

This is the analysis screen. It counts healthy, warning, and critical nodes, and it shows bus, heartbeat, PDO, and SDO status in separate cards. Each finding names the node and a next step, such as importing a matching EDS. It is a different screen from Bus Health, with a different picture.

Feature 14

Bus Health

See whether the bus is normal, and how many warnings or critical findings are active.

Bus Health shows Normal or not, plus the counts of active, warning, and critical findings. An empty list means no health rule matched the current traffic. Acknowledge marks a finding as seen.

Feature 15

Fault injection

Drop, delay, or duplicate frames on the selected virtual or bench channel. Turn the master switch on only when you mean to test. Do not use this on a live vehicle.

Drop, delay, or duplicate a percentage of frames on the selected virtual or bench channel. The master switch stays off until you turn it on. Apply sends the settings. This is for a lab test. Do not enable it on a vehicle or a live plant bus.

Feature 16

LSS Wizard

Look for an unconfigured device, then assign a node ID or bitrate. Store keeps the change after power-off.

LSS is how an unconfigured device gets a node ID and a bitrate. Fastscan looks for a device. Configure Node-ID and Configure Bitrate send the change. Store keeps it after power is removed. Nothing is stored until you press Store.

Feature 17

EDS Validation

Professional only. Check an EDS against the rules and export HTML or CSV. The file is not edited for you.

Professional only. Point it at an EDS and it checks the file against the rules, then lists each warning with a suggested fix and a line location. Export HTML or CSV if you need to share the list. The EDS file is not edited.

Feature 18

EDS Compare

Professional only. Load an older EDS and a newer EDS, then see what was added, removed, or changed.

Professional only. Load the older EDS on the left and the newer EDS on the right, then press Compare. Added, removed, and changed objects are counted, and each row shows the old value and the new value.

Feature 19

EDS Quality

Professional only. Score the EDS and filter the list by severity. The file is not modified.

Professional only. Analyze scores the file and splits the findings into critical, warning, and info. Filter the list by severity. Suggestions are comments only. The file on disk is not modified.

Feature 20

Compliance Dashboard

Professional only. Shows the score, issue counts, and the findings list on the same screen, with the reason for each row.

Professional only. The top of the screen is the score, the issue counts, and the network and device totals. The findings list is on the same screen, under those cards, with the reason for each row. Values come from the loaded EDS and from real monitor results.

Feature 21

Device Commissioning

Professional only. Run the checklist for adapter, bitrate, node, and heartbeat. Each step is Pass, Fail, Skipped, or Pending.

Professional only. Pick the adapter, bitrate, and node, then run the checklist. Each step is Pass, Fail, Skipped, or Pending, and a failed step includes a short explanation. Observation steps are never marked Pass unless the evidence is there.

Feature 22

Dashboard Builder

Professional only. Build a live panel with gauges, numerics, bars, LEDs, and charts, then save the layout. Trial and Light use Live Graphs instead.

Professional only. Add a dashboard, add a panel, then add signals as gauges, numerics, bars, LEDs, or charts. Save Layout keeps the arrangement. Trial and Light do not include this screen. They use Live Graphs.

Feature 23

Python Studio

Professional only. Write a script, run it, and stop it. Ask AI can insert a script. You still press Run yourself.

Professional only. New, Open, and Save are for the script file. Run starts it and Stop ends it. Ask AI can draft a script into the editor. The script does not run until you press Run.

Feature 24

CAN AI Offline

Professional only. Answers from the built-in help with no internet. It does not import files or press buttons for you.

Professional only. This chat uses the built-in help and does not need internet. Ask how a screen works. It cannot import a file, press a button, or change the project for you.

Feature 25

CAN AI Online

Professional only. Needs internet. Type a question and send it. Scripts are written in Python Studio, not in this chat.

Professional only. This mode needs internet. Type a question and press Send. Scripts are still written and run in Python Studio, not from this chat.
